PenAgenda seems to be very, very slow! Can I do anything to speed it up?

I have received several e-mails regarding the overall performance of PenAgenda being slow, especially at startup and when refreshing the data. However, as stated in the setup program, this is a problem with the originally released Pocket PC 2002 code and not PenAgenda! Microsoft has acknowledged this as a bug and has posted a service pack for the Pocket PC 2002 which resolves this issue. All 2002-based devices need this upgrade including the original iPAQs that have been upgraded from Pocket PC 2000!

Please consult your manufacturer's website regarding the download and installation of this update. If available, it is strongly recommended that you also install all firmware updates for your device.

Performing these steps will greatly improve your experience with PenAgenda as well as all applications that access contacts, tasks or appointments data.

Why won't the application accept my unlock code?

When purchasing PenAgenda, you are asked for your device's Owner Information. A common mistake is for people to instead enter their device name which will cause the registration to fail. The way to tell the difference is your device name is what shows up in ActiveSync whereas your Owner Information is what usually shows up on your Today screen. If you accidentally have entered your device name, contact Support@PenAndInc.net to request a new unlock code.

I double-checked my unlock code and my Owner Information, but I still can't register! Is my code valid?

On some devices running PenAgenda 1.0, people sometimes unknowingly have an extra space in their owner information and/or the unlock code which will cause the registration to fail. Check to make sure there aren't any extra spaces in either of those values. Alternately, you can download version 1.1 or later as those versions automatically remove the spaces for you.

Can I customize the colors or font sizes in PenAgenda?

As of the time of this posting (Version 1.1) this is not a supported feature. However, a future release of PenAgenda will allow you to customize not only the fonts and colors, but also the month headers with your own custom graphics as well!

What devices will PenAgenda run on?

PenAgenda runs on any Pocket PC 2002 powered mobile device. This includes the HP Jornada 560 Series, Compaq iPaqs either running or upgraded to Pocket PC 2002, Casio Cassiopeia E-200, and Toshiba e570. It should also run on any other ARM-based Pocket PC 2002 device even if not listed.

It seems as if PenAgenda displays three or four months of data. Can this be changed?

Due to the design of the application's scrolling feature and how it affects the speed of the application as well as the memory footprint, we decided to limit PenAgenda's display to appointments that fall within the next 90 calendar days. However we are looking into a change that should theoretically half the refresh time as well as improve memory usage. If our tests are successful, we're considering either letting the user specify the range or just removing the restriction altogether allowing you to scroll as far forward or backward as you want. Again, all this depends on testing and demand for such a feature.

I entered an appointment, but PenAgenda keeps saying 'No Appointments Today." What's going on?

Version 1.0 of our product only supported devices with the regional settings set to 'English (United States)' and thus on some machines with a different region set, no information was rendered. However this was fixed as of version 1.1. Make sure you have the latest version installed on your device.

Why does PenAgenda display noon as '12:00a' instead of '12:00p'?

This is a known bug in version 1.0 that has been corrected in version 1.1. Please download the latest version to correct this behavior.

I left PenAgenda running overnight, but when I returned, it was still showing yesterday's date!

Does PenAgenda synchronize with Outlook or Exchange?

Yes! Since PenAgenda integrates with the existing appointments database on your device, anything that the built-in calendar can sync with, so does PenAgenda!
