Pen & Inc. was founded by Mark Donohoe, a veteran programmer of 22 years who has been writing software since he was 13. Always a lover of technology, he started Pen & Inc. as a company that provides cutting-edge software for the Windows Mobile platform. What sets their designs apart from others in the field are their extremely intuitive and useful user interfaces which are designed from the ground up specifically to be used on mobile devices with small screens but more importantly, by the users of those devices.

"You need to think like a person who has a cell phone in one hand and your application in the other." says Mr. Donohoe. "Simply porting the function of a desktop application to a handheld isn't good enough. Mobile users have a different need than someone sitting at their desk and the design of an application should reflect that. The industry hasn't heard this yet. If someone is on their phone and it's easier to reach for a napkin to jot down a note or a number, they will. Our goal quite simply is to beat paper."
